SATO America Streamlines B2B Payment Management in Salesforce with ChargeOn

May 26, 2026

Executive Summary

SATO is a global leader in auto-ID and labeling solutions, serving industries including manufacturing, logistics, retail, food & beverage, and healthcare. The company specializes in thermal transfer printing, RFID, barcoding, IoT, and Print and Apply technologies, engineering hardware, and integrated solutions that make every asset knowable in real time. SATO connects entire supply chains, from the production floor to the end consumer.

SATO America wanted to hold or authorize customer payments during checkout rather than charging them instantly, while ensuring that no sensitive card details are stored. Catering to this, we implemented ChargeOn as the payment processing and orchestration layer. It integrated their Salesforce B2B platform with the PayTrace payment gateway to enable secure, token-based authorization-only transactions. With this, they achieved a fully automated, PCI-compliant payment ecosystem that allows them to adjust and capture final payment amounts after shipping.

Areas for Improvement

Before partnering with us, SATO America identified several areas where operational efficiency could be enhanced.

Need for Delayed Payment Capture Flexibility

SATO America was on Magento, and their checkout process was built on a B2C logic that was to charge at the point of purchase. However, as a B2B company, it was looking for a payment workflow that could support B2B order processing requirements. They wanted the ability to authorize funds at checkout while capturing the final payment amount only after shipment, tax, and shipping calculations were confirmed. This required a solution that could securely hold funds at the time of purchase and process the final adjusted amount later in the order lifecycle.

Need for Seamless Salesforce and PayTrace Connectivity

SATO America migrated from Magento to Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud and wanted to ensure optimal communication between their new site and existing PayTrace setup. Therefore, they needed an orchestration layer that could send checkout data to PayTrace and bring the transaction status back into Salesforce records, something the new site did not have out of the box.

Need for Secure Card Data Handling

SATO America wanted to deliver a modern checkout experience without expanding its compliance scope. They wanted to store sensitive card data exclusively within PayTrace’s secure environment.

Manual and Time-Consuming Reconciliation Across Platforms

SATO America wanted to eliminate the manual efforts its finance team spent every month matching bank transactions to Salesforce orders. They needed every PayTrace transaction to automatically include the corresponding Salesforce order ID.
