Connect a gateway before anything else

Every other page in this guide assumes at least one gateway is connected and verified. Nothing in ChargeOn can move money until that is true.

The Order That Actually Matters

Most of this section can be read in any order once a gateway exists, but three pages build on each other:

1. Connect a payment gateway. Nothing else in this guide works until a gateway is connected.

2. Verify gateway credentials. Do this immediately after connecting, before you rely on the gateway for anything else.

3. Map fields to your objects. This needs a connected, verified gateway to point at. It is also where you assign the notification email templates and, optionally, fallback gateways.

Rotate the encryption key and set up multicurrency payments are independent of this sequence. Come back to them whenever they apply to you.
